How did you decide to get into your line of work?

After working for 13 years in her family's business managing accounts, staff and day to day issues in 2002 Donna branched out full time to working as a contractor for other business. Donna found that she enjoyed the challenge of working with a variety of small to medium business as a bookkeeper and has been growing her bookkeeping business ever since

Donna recently traveled to visit a business that had been using the same software for 12 years - this client was spending 4 to 5 days per month keying their transactions in to their system to generate the BAS and business reporting needs. This time and stress involved was creating huge issues for the proprietor and her family. Donna spent three hours with this client providing training and suggestions on how to improve the system in place - this client now spends a maximum of one day per month doing what was taking 4 or more days. The stress and worry is gone - it is important to note that the software hasn't changed, the business requirements haven't changed, the people haven't changed. The only change is the way they are using their software....

Ideally I need to know the size of your business needs including how many transactions per month, how many employees, and whether you wish to have onsite visits and/or cloud support. Information on the current accounting system in place is also extremely valuable in tailoring a quote for your needs

Get organised - collect all your bank statements, receipts and invoices into one place. It is time consuming and down right frustrating when you are trying to manage your business and you cannot find the information you need. Deska Books can work with you to develop a foolproof system of document management. Decide clearly what you are good at - if you are not computer literate or comfortable with paperwork invest your time in your business and allow others to do this for you. Your time is valuable too! Partner with advisors that are interested in your business - choose an accountant, bank, lawyer, that you enjoy speaking too and understand what you want from your business. Good solid relations with these people can save you time, money, stress and allow you to grow your business. Now add a qualified and experienced bookkeeper and enjoy doing business again.

Donna has an Advanced Diploma of Accounting and a Diploma of Vocational Education and Training as well as a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE). Donna spent four enjoyable years working for South West TAFE as a workplace, classroom and online teacher training a large variety of students in Accounting, Business Administration, and related skills. Donna choose to return fulltime to her BAS Agent practice in May 2012 bringing with her real skills to help you to get the best from your bookkeeping needs.
